Saints-2-Sinners Bicycle Club
|

It was a long summer and it took Kim forever to heal. By the time he was back on the bike fall had arrived and our young guys
were leaving. Gehen moved to NC; Austin was shipped to Ft. Leanord-
wood for basic training, and Monkey scooted off to MD to lay cable.
To see these boys off properly, we had a going away party as an excuse
get everyone together. We had the opportunity to catch up and we
learned a little something. We all missed the camaraderie we experience
every time the team gets together. And we learned, at the end of the day
that is was STS is all about! Buds, Beers and Bikes!
That is when I realized the club was so much more than tee shirts or
products. The club is not a business it's a brotherhood. It's about like
minded individuals forming a bond over a similar interest. It's about
raising hell with a kick ass group of people and laughing about it the next
day. It's about friends who have your back no matter what!
With this in mind, we asked what we should do for 2012. The answer was unanimous, Just Ride! So, that is all we're planning
to do! Our goals for this year officially will be:
*Revamping Baker's Acres.
*Hosting the first Ed Zieba Memorial Mountain Bike Ride
*A couple of scenic group road rides. A wine tour by bike has been
mentioned along with a trip to Cooperstown.
There will be a few other changes this year, as well. We're not going to worry about a product line. It's too time consuming
and it's a financial burden right now. We have dismantled the product pages of the website and will no longer keep an
inventory.
Instead, any new product will be posted for pre-order. This means get it while the getting's good or not at all. This should
free up a considerable amount of time and resources for more important things, like riding!
So, I personally say, "Good riddance to 2011. Hello 2012!" This will be the year of STS!

I was unprepared for the impact Kim breaking his leg would have on the team
as a whole. When we physically could not do ordinary things with the team
any more, we lost track of some our riders. People we were used to seeing or
speaking to on a daily basis became strangers. It was an odd year for everyone
and it changed the dynamic of the club by the time Kim was whole again. I
don't mean to imply it changed it for the worse, however. We had lost touch
with Jammer and Jose but tightened our bonds with Mattie G. and Austin. We
probably saw and knew too much about Tommy B. And, Monkey would
wander in and out whenever the mood struck him. Even though Kim couldn't
ride himself, he suited up Gehen and lived vicariously through him. Mattie
then became addicted and bought his own bike turning him into a convert, as
well. It was the old Yoda and young Skywalker scenario all over again!
