~ The 411 on STS and 2010.
It feels like a lifetime has passed since I last sat down and tried to put pen to
paper regarding Saints-2-Sinners. For the last several months, Kim and I have felt the
need to take a step back and reconsider our intentions. I, for one, always looked upon
STS as something of a hobby. When we made the mistake of taking on a team member who was
less than honest, it seemed like a good time to rethink what we were doing and where we
were going. I will not give a name to that team member but if it were not for him, we
wouldn't have been forced to see the situation in a new light. And for that, I am
grateful. Because STS was synonymous with fun, we failed to see how our actions affected
those around us, and for that I am sorry.
So, for the last several months we have been mending fences and reconsidering what
we want STS to become. With the return of Jammer, came some fresh ideas and a fresh new
start. We've stepped back to re-evaluate our situation and discovered that despite what
may have happened our team is still intact and stronger than ever.
It also forced me to look back on the days when things were simpler and overblown
egos were never part of the equation. I looked at the people who have devoted themselves
to us and was humbled to see they were the same people who were there right from the
start. To me it felt like the circle had closed. It also made me reminisce about the
days of FOD when riding was so new. It's hard to describe how much I miss those times.
But, like I said before, if events hadn't unfolded the way they had, I wouldn't have been
forced to look back on better times. It's those times that I want to create all over
again.
With that said, I am pleased to make 2010 the year of reflection. We will be
re-releasing some of our old prints from the Baker Designs BMX days and putting out some
new ones with the same flavor. We intend to incorporate the idea of keeping it on two
wheels. This is necessary since everyone in the club is into so many different aspects
of cycling. You will begin to see more video footage as we attempt to take on that
medium. You will see more products created for functionality like our new tech line.
But most of all, you will see the commitment that every member has given to making
Saints-2-Sinners strong and vibrant regardless of the challenges ahead.
